TMC in Shanghai

yesterday the season ending Tennis Masters Cup started. It is being hosted by Shanghai in the futuristic Qi Zhong Stadium. It features the top eight men's players in the world. Roger Federer as the top seed is slated to meet second seed Rafael Nadal in the final if everything goes according to form book.
I'll be rooting for Nadal all the way. It would be nice to see him win the TMC rather than having Federer dominate everytime he plays but i know it's a tough one to call.
Nadal started of with a bang by defeating Gasquet. I was glad to learn that Djokovic the darkhorse lost to Ferrer. Federer will open against Gonzalez, a player that he has nvr lost to before. In fact, the only person with a better head to head record against Federer in this tournament is Nadal.

Past Weekend

watched Meet Joe Black & America's Sweethearts again this weekend. Meet Joe Black starring Brad Pitt is about the Angel of Death(Pitt) coming to give the intended person a message that his time is up and accompanying him in his final days. Its the first time i watched it bcoz last time i thought it was a crappy movie. Now that i watched it completely without switching channels i thought it was okay. The love scene between Pitt and Claire Forlani was sizzling hot. Haha.

Then there was America's Sweethearts starring Julia Roberts and Catherine Zeta Jones. Yes, its an old movie. i watched it before but did not really paid attention to it as i was channel surfing and did not understand what was goin on then. Now, i've watched it without tuning away and i felt that it was a good one. Love to see Julia Roberts in a movie again. Her smile's so captivating. She's stunning in the movie. Zeta-Jones played the bad girl this time. Not as hot as she was in Ocean's Twelve. This movie is all about Julia. Haha

Henin triumphs but Maria's back

In an epic ending to an epic year, two of the greatest fighters in history went to war on Sunday, both battling for season-ending glory at the Sony Ericsson Championships. And after a three-hour, 24-minute marathon it was Justine Henin who was victorious, capping a record-breaking season with a 57 75 63 triumph and her 10th Sony Ericsson WTA Tour title of the year.

Henin's championship victory over Maria Sharapova - which, incidentally, placed at No.12 on the all-time list of longest matches - was a nail-biter from start to finish.

For Sharapova, a run to the final here was a statement that she is still very much one of the grittiest and most dangerous competitors around. After a tough season that began with her reaching the Australian Open final and re-ascending to No.1 but saw her suffer a string of early round defeats and slip to No.6 in the world coming into Madrid, this week has been nothing but a reaffirmation.

For Henin, this season could barely have been better. She won 63 of 67 matches (a .940 winning percentage, the likes of which haven't been seen since Graf had a .977 season in 1989) and 10 of the 14 events she played, including her sixth and seventh major titles at Roland Garros and the US Open (not since Hingis in 1997 has a player won double digit titles in a season). And with the exception of seven weeks early on, she held the No.1 ranking the entire season.
